Key Staff Biographies

George Lungley - CEO and Commercial Director
George is the CEO of SmoothWall Ltd and is responsible for the company's commercial activities. He has over 25 years experience in the IT industry, principally in network and financial systems. Previously owner director of a software company with 30+ staff and revenues in excess of £2 million in the UK, he latter served as Business Unit Director of FTSE 100 plc running an operation with more than 70 staff and with revenues of approximately £5m. George met the founders of the SmoothWall Project in early 2001 and helped form SmoothWall Ltd. later that year. He holds an honors degree from Manchester University.

Lawrence Manning - Lead Developer
Lawrence is the principal author and programmer of SmoothWall in all its forms, having written the very first line of SmoothWall program code back in the summer of 2000. Lawrence was one of the founders of SmoothWall Ltd. and is today the principal software architect for our commercial products. He is also the senior code maintainer for the SmoothWall Open Source Project working with a worldwide team of volunteer programmers. Lawrence holds an honors degree in Computer Engineering from Portsmouth University.

Daniel Barron - CTO and Technical Director
Daniel is responsible for the management of our development and support office in Southampton. He is also our expert on web content filtering, being the inventor and principal maintainer of the DansGuardian open source web content filtering project. Daniel is involved with a number of international bodies dealing with the issues of web content and filtering techniques. Dan gained his passion for this subject whilst working for an education IT Specialist, where he headed their networking development department. He holds an honors degree from The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).

Richard Moore - VP Sales
Richard is responsible for all aspects of worldwide sales. He has over 10 years experience in the IT industry and has spent the last six years in security and complex network solutions sales. A marketing graduate, he subsequently earned a Masters degree in IT & eBusiness in which he specialized in network security issues. Richard is both knowledgeable and passionate about our industry, and is focused on building a portfolio of strong revenue generating products that support and expand the worldwide SmoothWall sales channel.
